Job Title: Senior Program Manager (CFD) – Powertrain Systems | Engine Performance Team
Location: Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, India
Experience: 15+ years in CFD, with a minimum of 3-4 years in business development and people management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. CFD Expertise: Leverage your 15+ years of hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to drive advancements in powertrain systems. Expertise with 3D CFD tools like StarCCM+ and 1D system modeling tools such as GT-Suite will be pivotal.
2. Simulation Savvy: Conduct in-depth simulations in areas like in-cylinder processes, exhaust after-treatment systems, turbocharger systems, aeroacoustics modeling,
and co-simulation approaches (1D/3D).
3. System Level Performance Modeling: Apply understanding of system performance modeling with 1D CFD tools like GT-Suite, GT-Power, AVL, or similar platforms to enhance our digital development.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish robust communication channels across various teams to deliver innovative digital solutions.
5. Digital Validation: Develop and implement digital validation methods for new technologies, test correlations, co-simulations (1D-3D), multi-disciplinary methods, and optimization using AI/ML for accelerated digital development.
6. Powertrain Development: Spearhead the complete digital development of powertrain systems for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, ensuring alignment with development targets of Mercedes-Benz AG.
7. Result Validation: Oversee the validation of simulation results through necessary testing activities.
8. People Management: Inspire and nurture your team, fostering a culture of continuous development and excellence.
Strategically optimize cost structures while implementing initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention, thereby minimizing personnel turnover.
9. Team Leadership: Lead the Engine Performance Simulation team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Drive the enhancement of our digital development capabilities in collaboration with partners.
10. Global Collaboration: Embrace opportunities for international travel to our headquarters in Germany, fostering strong global partnerships and ensuring seamless project and program alignment.
Qualifications:
1. Experience: Minimum 15+ years in CFD within powertrain systems, with 2-3 years in business development and people management.
2. Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CFD tools (StarCCM+, Fluent, OpenFoam, etc.), 1D system modeling (GT-Suite), and a good understanding of other 1D CFD tools (GT-Power, AVL).
3. Communication:
Exhibit exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in German language is a plus, enhancing your ability to engage with international colleagues and stakeholders.
4. Innovation: Champion innovative thinking and inspire the team to explore cutting-edge solutions in powertrain systems / Vehicle development systems. Encourage a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.
5. Leadership: Proven track record in leading technical teams and managing employee development.
Education:
B.E/B. Tech./M. E./M. Tech/ PhD in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. MBA will be an added advantage.
Type of Work: Engine 1D and 3D CFD simulations and project management.
Areas of Work: Internal combustion Engine Performance Simulations.
Specific Knowledge: People management and Negotiation Skills,
Automotive Engine 1D and 3D CFD Simulations, exposure to intercultural aspects & International work experience. German Language will be an added advantage.
