Monks is looking for a seasoned and experienced 3D Technical Director who can solve technical issues and develop pipelines and workflows for the 3D Animation team in Buenos Aires and beyond. In this role,
you will work on demanding CGI projects for premium customers with the highest demands on quality and aesthetics.
Our ideal candidate can communicate with the art and production team on the needed technical components and on pipeline improvements. Has people management skills and is focused on finding technical solutions. You will be involved in all aspects of the pipeline: from scoping alongside with the producers, through setting up a team up until the delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- You’re able to understand the brief and find technical solutions to make the artistic goals of the project work within time and budget. You will be responsible for helping define the right team and maintaining and updating CG pipelines based on the project need. This can vary from ad hoc short projects to long term setups.
- You’ll work closely with the Director, 3D lead and all the artists involved in a project. Hands-on involvement in 3D production on projects is a must.
- Attend to team calls and brainstorming solutions together with the team.
- Be on the forefront of new developments and applications in the CG field and the implementation of innovation and AI automation/generation.
- Working closely with other offices in different countries and time zones.
- You will be helping to scope project times and check feasibility for the different tasks.
- You will work from pre-production phase to final delivery, meaning that you will be communicating constantly with different departments and adjusting pipeline and processes accordingly.
Requirements:
- At least 7 years of production experience with the end-to-end 3D animation process in a senior or leading role.
- A deep knowledge of the CGI production pipeline and industry standards.
- Excellent ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
- You have an excellent knowledge of all 3D softwares and render engines with a main focus on Maya/Arnold and Cinema4/Redshift.
- Complementary knowledge of other softwares such as Substance Painter, Houdini, and/or Nuke are necessary to fulfill complete analysis of workflows.
- You can work in various steps of the 3D pipeline. Modeling, texturing, lighting, and shading, are your strong points.
- Good communication in English and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.
- Able to meet, talk, and present to clients.
- Pro-active attitude. You are a team player and have a positive, hands-on approach.
- Fluent written and verbal English is mandatory.
- Automotive projects experience is a huge plus.
